Description
Go for a pretty zen decoration with this Japanese Chochin Lantern
Widely used during the Edo period, this folding lantern (chin) was mainly used as a light. It remained popular in the Land of the Rising Sun. They can be found in front of shops and restaurants. The Japanese lamp exists in a round or cylindrical version. In the past, it consisted of a bamboo frame on which washi paper was stretched. Today, wire, just as effective, has replaced bamboo.
This elongated Japanese lantern can be hung from the ceiling, from a tree branch or held by hand to stroll during a summer event for example. It represents a geisha adorned with flowers and carrying an umbrella.
